First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes beautiful Brynn

My sister-in-law and her husband, Matt and Lindsay, gingerly jogged their way from falling in love to having a brand-spanking new sparkling baby girl in just a few years flat. Where does the time go? It seemed like only yesterday the two pups were in college. Now they are verse at cutting fallen trees, shooting weddings and helping the world be a better place through community service work. I am so happy to be an uncle to Brynn and a brother-in-law to two amazing charcters who know how to love, have FUN and make me laugh. BIG TIME CONGRATULATIONS TO THE THREE OF YOU and your dogs too!

Blue Lily photography goPro reunion workshop extravaganza

Ready, set, goPro. Wendy and Tyler, husband and wife duo from Blue Lily Photo, out did themselves concocting the 2011 goPro photography workshop reunion I attended last month. The two day, non-stop picture taking frenzy was epic. Past goPro participants gathered under one huge lodge-like house tucked in the mountain side of Deer Vally Resort. Laughing, sharing photography tips, taking a gazillion photos, downloading and editing them 24/7 was all part of the weekend delirium. I am not going to write much about the details, but rather share with you some of the pictures and a video that came from the 48 hour shoot out blitz.

First comes love, then comes marriage and no, the beautiful baby below does not belong to the newly married couple. He was part of a baby shoot set up at the goPro workshop party house.

Baby Denver was a superb model.  He was oblivious to the 20 photographers that circled him for his shoot.

Hindus celebrate Holi by throwing colorful paints and powders at each other. In this case, fellow workshop photographers put down their cameras and participated in an all out powder skirmish for the rest of us to capture.

I may have gone a little too far photoshoping the photographers, Megan (left) and Carrie (right). It just seemed fun to combine them as one.

The video shows a bit of the “action” of the powder craziness we witnessed live.

Moments after the powder shoot, in an adjacent field, we turned our focus on photographing some amazing children and well behaved animals.

In a few weeks I will update this post to include links to the other photographers who were in the workshop, along with a link to the Blue Lily Photo when they post photos from the workshop.

Winter reflection

It’s 11:52 and my pillow is asking me to lay down my head for a long winter’s nap. I resist temptation of an hour more of rest for the trade of  posting the first entry on my new phototaker blog. The photo is of a wonderful found object snowman my wife and I received as a wedding gift from an incredible artist and friend, Rhett Johnson. I set the little aluminum dude outside the night before an anticipated snow storm. And just like Christmas morning, to my eyes did appear – 9 inches of cotton soft snow lumped beautifully on my metal friend’s top, sides and rear.

If you have a moment, stop by my chrisduhartmaker blog to see more of Rhett’s work.
